I have a new 55 gal saltwater tank. Ammonia is zero , nitrites are zero , nitrates are 10 , pH is 8.0 and current salinity is 1.026/35ppt. Seemed to be thru initial cycle. Should I put a fish or a cuc in at this time , or wait a while longer? If so , what do I add?

You could try a bangai cardinal or maybe a pair of clowns. Watch every thing for a couple weeks before adding anything else. Go slow and be patient. Good luck post some pics.

Looks good but I would remove the background and paint it black

Looks good, agree would go ahead and add your cuc and a hardy fish or two from the fish you want to have in your tank.

For the background with it being set up already painting it would be difficult. If you would like to do a black background an ready way to do so would be using something like black poster board. It is inexpensive and you don't get the reflection off of it like the black background they sell at the lfs. On my 72 gallon while it was a saltwater tank I had a piece of plexi glass that had been painted, had come with the tank from the previous owner, worked but still to much reflection for my liking. When I converted the tank to freshwater I used black mat board that I had on hand, in my opinion it looks better. Black matte finished poster board will work as well.
