Well I started to grow Phytoplankton

It is doing well and I plan to split the first batch tomorrow.


So next up will be to grow pods.

Should I buy fresh pods to grow from,
or just catch some pods from my sump?

If you can catch some pods from your sump and throw them in a ball of chaeto, go ahead. If you have 10-20 bucks to throw around, buy some pods also. You could save money just getting them from your sump, but buying them might speed up the process.

Buy some, trade some and add some of your own. Better to have many strains in genetics....IMO it does better. I traded with others and got in some good breeders, some healthy ones and such.

I have a bunch in my sump so I'll just
catch some of them to get it started.

I just split the first batch of phyto this morning.

While I was at it I caught a few pods from my sump and put
them in a small container with some phyto to get them going.
