Please, without exaggeration, those with NG, what is the average growth rate?
I am kind of disappointed in mine. I started with 5 polyps Sept 7th and have 26 polyps to date. I would think they would be a fast grower. I feed them once, sometimes 2 times a week.

Now the question is do you have the big polyps or the little polyps?? In my tank they are BIG!! Like penny to nickel size. In my friends tank they are small.

5 polyps a month seems good IMHO. I would think they would grow at the same rate as Purple Deaths and that's what I get from mine.

Big I would say. They are one of my favs. They sit next to my Armageddons and are about the same size.
Thanks for the info. Maybe I expect too much from them. For some reason I compare them to PD, which grow pretty fast.

My PD grow much faster than that, but you should know by now Mark that my zoas are far more superior than yours.

Haha my PD grow faster too. But i like Nuclear greens way more. I have about over 50+ frags of purple deaths. They turn into mini colonies for me in like a month or two.

Sweet. Maybe send some to Grouper so he can see how a REAL zoa grows. Kidding Mark and you know it. Some of my best zoas came from you.

My NG are pretty slow as well. Had them high in my tank for about a month with no results but 3 nice (penny sized) polyps that were never closed. I moved them midway down and out of direct light and within a few days I had 2 new ones pop up.

I never have fed them but did tonight-I am going to see what kind of results that yields.

mine are weird 1 month they only grow 1 or 2 and another month they grow like 4-5 almost at the same time

Also the more you frag them the faster they grow it seems. Some I just hate to frag up though. The NG always look so nice when there are many bunched up together.
And thanks all for the responses. I wasn't sure the growth rate and didn't know if placement was stunting them or soemthing else but I guess they are doing average after all.

frag up a back up frag and grow out frag... then, leave one alone and let it rock!!! :D

What are you feeding you NG's? Do you feed most of your palys or just the NG's?

Lately I have been taking Rod's Original blend and mincing a frozen chunk in a bullet blender, adding SW, pouring in the juice with flow going to excite all the zoanthids, then shutting flow off once mix comes to temp and target feeding all the protopalys, palythoas and anything else in the tank that will take the mince. Zoanthus I am sure are taking the deluted juice in the water colunm.
