Hello everyone. A few months ago I went to a different LFS and was introduced to the saltwater hobby.
Just like that, I was hooked by the diversity of color and movement of the tanks inhabitants. Right away I checked out some books and began looking into reef related equipment and advice from the internet.

With that said, I understand the costs of a beautiful setup. And quite frankly, I don't want to screw up!
I have a few years of experience with freshwater tanks (cichlids) and hope that will help me as I start my own reef.


As of now I'm interested in zoas/palys as well as LPS such as acans.
In the near future I will likely post questions about lighting. It seems hard to get the perfect light for my circumstances. Especially with so many choices.

Welcome. I think you will find this a really nice place to learn. Read a lot. But make sure to read the good stuff. "Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner and "Natural Reef Aquariums" by John Tullock are both good reads. I have others, but cannot think off hand.
Make sure when searching for information, that you look so see if the person has actual experience with the creature or style of system. Fo instance, I could not answer any questions about Triton Method. Never even looked into it. Same with most angelfish, as I have never kept them.
Always ask what is on your mind.
People are trying to be helpful.
