Nick's 345G Build

Tank is still up and running. Haven’t been motivated to participate in forums or the tank for that matter. Life is a little chaotic right now lol. We welcomed our daughter back in November so with a 4yr old and a 3 month old, I’m finding myself a little short on time. Always.
I brought up the gigantea anemone last spring and in the Fall, it creeped too close to the MP60 and sent a bazillion of tentacles and stinging cells into the tank. All Anthias, chromis, and wrasses(except for the leopard wrasses), a small powder blue and powder brown dead within 15mins. I was heart broken and that was when I started to lose interest. And with a newborn in November, I haven’t been doing anything in the tank. The gigantea lived but it’s now back in the tank downstairs.
TBH, if this tank hasn’t been set up the way I did, I would’ve quit last year. But with the CWC, I really can just let it take care of itself. Just make RODI and pour salt and feed the fish. That’s all I’m doing right now.
These are from today. I feel like the sps colors are the best ever even with the neglect.

I also spend a lot more time on my other hobby nowadays.

First thing first, I gotta make sure the floor is ready for 4000lbs+ of dead weight. Main joists are sistered with 3/4" plywood and 2x12s where the tank will sit. Then supported by 4x2x6 beams and a minmum of 12,000lbs each jack post.

What is the reasoning behind nailing/screwing(?) 3/4" plywood and 2x12s where the tank will sit to the main joists...?

To strengthen the 2x12 joists and reduce/illuminate “bounce”
When you have kids running around a 4000lbs filled tank, the floor will flex and create “bounce” ing effect.

Looking more than amazing. Congratulations on the daughter

This is a great tank, and even with your bumps it still looks fantastic.

Why did you end up changing to a fully enclosed hood? I saw your floating canopy and it looks great, and I was thinking of doing something similar.

Any updates Nick? I hear you on the kids causing major changes, I tool a 3-4 year break when my three were babies. Now getting back in with the youngest almost 3 years old. I am down in RI, would be great to check out your system sometime if you ever want to show it off. Your CWC has me considering it!
