Hello everyone,

i need some options here. Was at Petco to buy some spray and shampoo for the dogs and saw they had saltwater fish. Just for kicks looked at them and saw a Niger trigger. Thing was only 34 bucks dirt cheap. My concern is these things.
1. It was hiding in the sand and I have never seen a trigger hide in the sand. In the rocks yes but not in the sand bed.
2. When I asked to take a better look the guy moved the rocks and I could see it had some white spots in the nose and looked like by the tail connection to the body. Could not really tell if it was sand or flukes or ich. But the behavior with the spots I passed at the time.

MY question is I have a Qt and I could treat it I guess and keep in qt for a while but there is no refund if it dies and I am not sure if I really should just stay away. The guy didn't know what it was eating and said it had been there a month. Salinity in the tank was 1.027 as well which was kinda high. Please let me know any thoughts on maybe getting it or not. For reference at my local lfs the same trigger is 89.99 which is why I am considering.

Thank You everyone

Still the 75 gallon tank? I wouldn't get it. They require more than double that. If already sick especially.

It would outgrow it before that.

Pass on it. Same price at my LFS for 2+" . By the time you set up a QT and add meds to the deal- youre at $75 Plus risk of disease to any other occupants.

I appreciate that it is a good deal and we have all wanted to save the fish from Petco or Walmart at one point or another.... but at the detriment of the rest of the system.... your heart is in the right place.
PS I love my GSP, too.

It's not worth buying a fish that you know probably has issues IMO. The petco near me will specifically order fish for me, you may ask if they will order you a different one. I'm currently waiting on 3 lyretail anthias to come in from petco.

GSP forever!! I guess I will pass but my heart hurts a lil bc it's such a good deal and I am super cheap and it's rare my wife says I I like that one you should get it. I don't think I can bank that statement
