Hi, does anyone have a personal experience with keeping a Niger in a reef tank? Tia

I've only tried it once, a long time ago with just soft corals. Worked OK until he got big and then he started biting at everything. Small frags he would carry across the tank with his mouth and spit into the sand.

yes i have and had niger triggers in my tank
They are fine.
keep them fed and there like puppies
my 4" likes to have the peperment shrimp clean him and will lay on his side while the shrimp walks all over him. none of them have ever botherd any corals or inverts
I have a 6 inch clown triger in my 300 reef and except for an ocassional rearanging of something hasnt done any killing of corals or decorative inverts

I've had my Niger for a while now in my 300 mixed reef and haven't had any issues with him yet. He's the most personable fish in the tank. Loves to have his back scratched. I have clowns, tangs, wrasses,Angels, and inverts. He's around 5 inches. Eats everything I put in there.

I had one that got about 6" in a 300g mixed reef. Love to have the cleaner shrimp clean him. Never bothered small or large fish, inverts or coral. Very personal. Would follow me up and down the tank. Ate out of my hand. Only ever nipped me when I got him to rehome during a tank breakdown. But I am sure not all are the same.

I've been hearing mixed reviews on these guys so U decided to get a sargassum. So far so good!

+1 on a niger being a good citizen, I have had several through the years and all were fine, blue jaw is also a nice option as well as a sargassum, I also had a crosshatch for quite a while who was also a model reef citizen
