Niger trigger

I just got a niger trigger and noticed it laying at the sand bed upright is this just how they rest I checked parameters all is good just worried being that when i put him in the tank he was swimming around I laid down for bed decided to take the dogs out and noticed that he was laying at the bottom of the tank any info would be greatly appreciated

They will normally wedge themselves into a rock crevice at night. I had mine for 6 years and never saw it on the sand, always in rock. They stay there till the sun comes up usually.
