i was wondering if anyone could tell me why people always seem to recommend dosing the tank at night. i seem to have a problem being able to do it @ night regularly. i use a daily 2 part (oceans blend, i think), and i just dont want to mess anything up:squigglemouth:

I dose calcium every hour for 5-7min in the day time and alk at night for every hour for 5min. To help keep my PH up. don't know if any other benefit on dose alk at night.

do you use an automated doser? i may need to invest in one but i just cant afford all the nice, life easing extras currently haha guess ill just have to wait for that

I think the night dosing is for liquid foods for Corals. The alk is also used at night when ph is lowest as most alk buffers recommend

awesome thanks guess the low night PH is the reason. makes sense. on a side note since you mentioned foods for corals, have you ever heard of or used Coral Frenzy (powder)?

i use coral vib by oceans blend at night along with my dosing .. i dose 1 part 2 part and 20 ML of mag but im getting ready to change to KALK +2 from brightwell products .. have read alot of good reviews on that ..

Coral Frenzy is prolly my favorite dry coral food. That stuff is awesome!

thats good to hear i got some on sunday and it was the first time i used it... i did notice the most polyp extension this morning since i got the milli 2 weeks ago which was a nice surprise. didnt expect it to make a diff that fast.

do you like the coral vib? i might have to try that. i have heard a lot about the brightwells also, im still a little scared to change up though.

yea my corals really like if and i agree with you .. kind of freaks me out to change up a product i have been using for so long .. but when i add cv to my system my welsos blow up and my acans grab as much as they can .. when i add it to my tank i do it about every 3 days i add it to the tank but turn off my main pump and leave my power heads on for about a good hour so i know they all get some ..

Hyprviperx the reason for dosing any buffer just before your tank lights come on is to help keep the pH consistent. During the day (tank's daytime) algae produces oxygen and raises the pH. Just before the tank lights come is when your pH is at it's lowest.

Thank you very much for your on point, response that makes a lot of sense I appreciate it. Never thought about algae as the reason... thanks again
