Ninja's IM 200g peninsula - phosphate fun

Went on an acro craze lately. I will be providing regular updates on my frags and note the name, vendor, and price. I think it's important to be transparent about acro pricing, color, growth rate, etc. It's so hard to find that info right now. I also won a god pack from Pieces of the Ocean that came with 20 high end acros. Can't wait for them to grow!!

ORA red planet. This frag is a survivor from my old tank. The main colony died off after the move and I saved a small frag. It was almost all brown 6 months ago and I mounted it up high behind my orange digita colony and forgot about it. Now it has doubled in size and gained a lot of color.

WWC Pink Passion. I picked this guy up about 6 months ago from their online auction for like $30. It was tiny. It is mounted right below my Radion and getting blasted with light. It is fast growing once it settled in, almost 5x growth. It's also surprisingly hairy, almost like tyree pinky the bear without the green. Next to it is my Walt Disney.

BattleCorals Space Laser. Got it from fraghouse corals 6 months ago for $50. Went through a long brown phase and recently colored up. I love the yellow polyps on this guy. Slow grower.

WWC Heartbreaker from Fraghouse Corals from 3 months ago for about $40. Lost a bit of color but slowly gaining back the green and red. Started growth spurt about a few weeks ago.

POTO Optimus Prime from a week ago. Chunky frag from Pieces of the Ocean. Part of my god pack but live sale pricing is about $80 or so. Great color from the start.

Vivid Insanity from Pieces of the Ocean. Part of God pack. Live sale pricing is like $200+. Hard to show it's true color as a frag. Can't wait for this to grow out!!

POTO Hearts on Ice. Part of God pack. Goes for around $60 during live sale. Looks kinda like PC rainbow.

It's a space invader pectinia. I don't know why they are so expensive. I got mine from aquasd about 3 months ago for $40 but I seen them go for $100 for a chunky one. Mine has grown a lot. It's super easy too. I just leave it on the sandbed cuz I read it can send out long stingers at night...I haven't seen any yet

Woah, blast from the past! All the colonies in this tank are from my old tank in Chicago =).

I am using ESV Bionic for this tank. I was using Seachem Fusion 1 and 2 but didn't get good results. Since switching to ESV, the tank is super happy. I bought a tub of All for Reef and thought about switching since I only have the Red Sea Dose 2 heads and All for Reef will allow me to use one head for AcroPower. But tank been so happy with ESV that I probably won't switch....

Haha great to see you and the corals are doing well in the south.

I haven't used ESV in easily 10 years, I've been so fixated on considering a calcium reactor I'm ignoring my old ways, might have to do some homework and re-evaluate ESV.

Sooooo.....I bought more acros from Pieces of the Ocean during their auction. I really wanted the orange passion cuz I had a big colony before and it died after the move. Then one thing lead to another and I got 3 other acros. I literally have no room to mount them....

I also bought two Jebao SOW-15 on amazon. I have to mount my Gyre 350 vertically and they give out enough flow but I dont have enough surface agitation so there's always a film of crap at the other end of the tank. I will mount the SOW-15 up high and create waves. Then I will point the Gyre more towards all the acros. Just have to make I don't blow their polyps off....

Merry Christmas from my chubby bubble tip! I have to move it from the 200g to my 20g. It refuses to split and getting too big. It can now have the 20g to its own. Those Christmas colors!

Great build, how was plumbing the tank, I have been thinking of getting an IM INT170 . Some questions I have:

1. Build quality of the tank?
2. How is the APS stand and how easy was it to build?
3. How do you like the INT Overflow, is it quiet and was it easy to dial in?

Been MIA after loosing my Walt Disney colony and tank just going downhill. Not sure what caused the colony to RTN all of a sudden. My guess is bacterial infection since I lost huge colony of Aussie gold torch and wall hammer soon after. Then acro frags started to RTN too. Nutrients continued to bottom out despite feeding a lot and dosing NP-plus. I started neglecting the tank and things just snowballed.

A month ago, a local reefer broke down his tank and I got two full grown yellow tangs and a purple tang from him. That rejuvenated my interest in the tank so here I am now. Funny enough, nutrient level went from 0 to 50 nitrate and 1.2 phosphate according to ATI ICP.
I tried phosguard for a week but didn't do anything. Hanna flashed 0.9 every time. Today I started dosing phosphate-e. I did a lot of research and took precautions since I have lots of tangs now. I triple layered the filter pads and dosed 5ml every hour. In 3 hours, phosphate dropped to 0.86. Yay!!! Tangs are fine and I will space out the dosage even more to go even slower. I just wanted to see the number move. Goal is to get to 0.3 slowly.

Sorry for late reply....did you end up getting your INT 170?
1. Tank build quality is amazing. Glass is super thick for mine.
2. APS stand is oooook. I thought I would love the aluminum stand but the washers and magnets starting to rust and doors don't close tightly anymore....
3. I hate hate hate the INT overflow. Go with EXT. You loose so much space with INT and so much crap accumulates in the overflow. It is extremely quiet though.

Phosphate is at 6.8 this morning =). Tank was cloudy for a bit last night so I overnighted some 5 micron felt filter socks from Amazon. My fiji sump uses pads so I will just cut the sock open and lay it flat.
