Well media that removes nitrate is really inefective.
Aluminum based phosphate removers work but there is a risk, see Randy's article.
I really like (gfo) iron based phosphate removers, but again there is some risk which is really not really known.. Most Gfo is the same.
I am curious about the new PO4X4. If it performs half as good as it says it does it could replace gfo.

seriously unmeasureable nitrates and phosphates for years with no water changes.
