Hey all, I'm looking for recommendations on a quality, consistent and accurate test kit. I currently have a mixed reef geared mainly towards sps. I have a low fish load and super low nutrients. I may end up dosing some day to balance things out and start growing cheato to raise the PH. For now I have increased feedings and colors have been getting better in my sps. I currently have the NYOS nitrate test kit and I cant detect anything. I've borrowed a friends red sea kit and still 0.0. Is it worth buying the red sea kit or should I save my money and just use the nyos kit? I borrowed a hanna ulr phosphate checker. It seems to get a lot of mixed reviews on bulkreef. When I retested a vial 4 times I got 32, 39, 35, 37. I dont know how much faith I'd put in one. or is this accurate enough?

For PO4 I recommend the new version from RedSea. It has a high & low range method ( just like their NO3 test) & the low range, which is the important one, is very accurate & easily distinguishable between concentrations, eg zero 0.02 0.04 0.08 0.16.

I also like their NO3.

I prefer the NYOS nitrate kit - it’s quicker and easier to read but shows the same values as my Red Sea Pro kit. If both are reading zero, you have zero [emoji4]

I use the Hanna phosphate checker but am considering g upgrading to the phosphorus Checker. I haven’t tried any other phosphate tests.

several reviews can be found on the internet, some are very good reviews as theys has been compared with prof. high tech equipment.
Beside that...some test use a very small colordiference, so they are good but it need a good eye to see the difference in color.
Therefore the most reefers use Hanna colorimtere phosphorus ULR for PO4 and Red sea Pro for NO3 when the range is lower then 5 ppm.
Is the range higher then 5 ppm most use salifert.
