Nitrate Battle

MY 75 gallon Reef looks ok although i am not sure i am getting great growth. Nitrates are staying around 50. I have done huge water changers and cleaned out sump with no effect. This is a classroom tank and we are learning. What can we do?

REALLY cut down on the feeding for one. Second, I would add another way to export nutrients e.g. protein skimmer or refugeium.

Sulfur denitrator will get the nitrates down, and is a good excuse to learn some interesting biology and chemistry along the way...

I run skimmer Reef Octo 150 int it stays full I empty three times a week... no room for refuge in sump
