Yes, stop testing calcium. It's causing far more harm than good.

IMO, there's no evidence for any organic generally being better than any other that is easily metabolized, but there are no good comparative studies.

One can get slimes and such from most organics, and if that happens, switching to a different one or a different way of dosing may be appropriate.

Guys my nitrates are 100 and I’ve been dosing nopox for a month and they’re not reducing, any tips for reducing these other than water changes? I have a sump

Are you skimming wet? Nopox need to be skimmed wet. Water changed, change you socks more often too.

Can caluerpa have to much light? I’ve got an 80w 6500k bulb sat 3” above the tops of the algae , it’s not showing any growth yet (added Tuesday) but 1-2 strands have gone clear

80w of what kind of light? CFL, LED?

Clear/white algae typically indicates either too much light or nutrient shortage such as iron

I wish I could tell you but the difference was quite noticeable. I had used NoPox at the recommended highest dose without any results for3 months. I was using it on all 3 of my display tanks. When I switched to vodka and followed the guidelines by fellow reefer Miami Reef, all 3 tanks experienced a big Nitrate drop with my smallest tank hitting 0. Needless to say I slowed the dosing down.

I following the same suggestion from Miami Reef on vodka dosing I was 75+ on nitrates now down to 3 or 4. I have a 300 gallon and was dosing as high at 50ml of vodka till my levels finally dropped. Now does 25 ml Dailey
