Nitrate question

My 75 is going a month..Showing very little Ammonia after you guys letting me know the API Ammonia test is flawed.Ammonia badge came in today...showing no Ammonia...what a relief..Question is..my Tap water and Tank water are both showing .20 Nitrates..I filled the tank at the start with Tap Water before I even knew what RODI water is.I have a RODI unit making water...just not sure how many water changes a week I should be doing..and how much volume.

I wouldn’t be worried about the nitrates. More so chloramines, silicates, copper and other metals. You may want to use cuprasorb to take care of the metals, perhaps prime for the chloramines. I’d do some water changes before adding anything. It all depends on the quality of your tap water.

Thanks.. My TDS meter arrived tonight.. Wasn't sure what I was doing.. So tested my tank water.. It wouldn't even read.. Guessing the salt content screws it up.. My tap water tested at 145 ppm... I'll test my next batch of rodi water tonight.

I’ve never tested the TDS of saltwater but it doesn’t matter. There are so many things in there. I’d test your tap water first and foremost since you started with tap water.

Tap water is at 145..so Im kinda happy..have read people have been as high as 700.Making water right now..Ill TDS it and hope for the best, bought 20 snails and 20 hermits to start cleaning a couple days ago..lost 2 snails...38 others are doing ok, I hope. Should I pull what I think are the dead snails out?...or let the crabs eat away?

I have brown algae going...I unfortunately had to put the tank on an outside wall.Three windows right behind it.I also only have 2 Clowns in it...was worried about food rotting I'm new..feel free to coach
