Nitrate test kits

Just looking for opinions on which nitrate test kits reefers are using? I have api but don’t really like or trust it.

I have Red Sea and API. I found the Red Sea to be extremely accurate on low end. My nitrates are between 1-2ppm

I’ve tried various and I prefer NYOS nitrate along with NYOS calcium and magnesium

They are all very easy to use, and accurate as confirmed by backup Triton tests within a low margin of error as NYOS claim

I personally struggle with the pink colours on Red Sea, maybe its my eyes!

Salifert.

FWIW, Triton doesn't test for nitrate, and so, cannot "confirm" nitrate test kits as accurate.

NYOS for me as well. IMO definitely a step ( or 2) up from the api.

Salifert and API. Incidentally, my Salifert nitrate test results sync with my API nitrate test results. Any particular reason you don't trust the API results?

I should have explained myself better, it’s not that I dont trust API results, I just have a hard time judging the end point colors.

Gotcha. Yeah, I find a really bright white light is helpful for reading the results. But it's still tough telling differences sometimes with the gradations of color.

Salifert. Faster than Red Sea and easy to switch to low range reading on the same sample.

I like Red Sea Pro. It goes from .25 ppm to as high as you want with dilution. The problem with all of the better nitrate test kits is you are fooling with intensities of pink. None of them are titration tests.

Nitrate would seem to be a test that would be suitable for Hanna to get involved with.
