Nitrate testing

Hello,

Although I'm not new to reef keeping. But, I haven't been involved for about 15 years. So I felt this question is more appropriate here.

I finally set up a new tank. I'm in the first week of the cycle. I already have most of my test kits that I know were fairly accurate. But, I forget the brand I used for Nitrate. When you search for info, it's insanely all over the map. What is the most popular brand for this element?

I use salifert and nyos with good results. I prefer the nyos as it's easier for me to read. I have a Hanna checker now but I still keep one of the test kits on hand in case I get a weird result.

Hanna HR Nitrate best IMM, fast easy and very consistent. But is double the price.
Next would be Salifert at half the cost. Very easy as well.

Hanna it is. Testers I know I am going to use, I don't mind spending a little more for.

There are two Hanna Nitrate checkers out in the market.
There’s a Hanna UL nitrate checker which is crap, IMM, way to many steps and too small sample size.
Get the Hanna HR (high range) checker, it’s like the updated version of the UL (ultra low) with was launched first.

Also, Hanna CA did nothing for me, too many steps and returns a wide result between 380-530ppm.

Also, Hanna MG seems to be reporting back high as well, so I’d wait till that one is sorted out.

Much easier to use than the ulr and perfect fine for most of us

I use Salifert but hopefully will have the HR Hanna checker soon
