I’ve got a nuvo 20 that has been up for about two months. About three weeks ago the nitrate has been around 3 but within the last two weeks it has measured 0. I have started feeding twice daily with a lot of pellet food and they still won’t go up. I’m afraid to feed more because of a ammonia spike. Should I feed even more or is their anything else I can do

Idk the ratios but places like green leaf aquatics sell dry fertilizer for nitrate and phosphate. Also other places have nitrate and phosphate addition. I feed 2-3 times a day tanks 2 months old and hold steady at 15 nitrates.

You could dose neonitro by Brightwell Aquatics available from Bulk Reef Supply. I dose nitrates but I dose sodium nitrate. I add a half cup into 1 gallon of RODI. i Use this as you stock solution. A dose of it for your system would be about .5 ml to boost nitrates a small amount. By small, maybe .5 ppm.

Try feeding less pellet and more frozen. Pellets are often high in phosphate - and you may be out of balance.

What problems are you seeing? Two months is early- it may just be algae growth sucking up all your nitrates.

I too had the same issue in raising No3 by feeding heavily and what not. I eventually had to purchase a No3 supplement. I purchased the following below with great success in keeping Amd maintaining my No3 at 5-10ppm

I have no algae at all besides some diatoms (which are going away)

I have a nitrate supplement but I’m afraid to dose it because I don’t want my phosphate to bottoms out. (I don’t have a test kit)

I dose nitrate (tree stump remover using Randy's recipe) and phosphate using NeoPhos. Not sure why, but my tank won't hold nitrate or phosphate very long on its own.. so I trickle dose both just to maintain testable parameters.
