My nitrates and phosphates are 0. I have been trying to get them to rise with more feeding and also dosing reef energy a and b from Red Sea. My question is does low nitrates and phosphates affect ph because my ph just says around 7.9 to 7.8 and I am running co2 scrubbber. Thanks in advance.

Following, my understanding is nitrates and phosphates have less to do with ph. Oxygenation of the water is what raises ph. I'm about to post on a similar issue.

I don't have any knowledge, nor have I read any scientific publications tying low Phosphate/Nitrate to PH. Excess CO2 in the tank is usually the cause, but sounds like you already know that since you're running a CO2 scrubber. I know this may be obvious, but have you checked your Alk to make sure it's not low?

I know this wasn't your question, but if your interest is to dose Phosphate and Nitrate, I would recommend using an additive that is focused towards those nutrients. RS Reef Energy is more focused on amino acids. Brightwell has both Nitrogen and Phosphorus additives if you don't want to make your own.

My alk is 9 dkh.
Cal is 450

Thanks I will have to look into that. I am running the Red Sea system minus the nopox because well I don’t need it.
