Nitrates are through the roof

I have just 1 female. I was told it would stay female and be smaller than a male. If it outgrows the tank I have friends tank it can move to.

I would look into getting a salifert test kit and doing a few 50% water changes. This should get your levels back to manageable again. Most shrimp don't like high nitrate whereas fish generally can tolerate pretty high levels.

I agree with everyone else. Several water changes to reduce it, but tell us about your system, first answering the questions Tahoe61 asked:

Are you over feeding?
Are you using RO or distilled water?
Are you using a skimmer?
How old is the tank?

Plus:

How much, if any, live rock?
What type of filtration system are you running?

Once we know these answers we can help you prevent Nitrate buildup after you get it under control with water changes.

I just added the black clown. The anthias picked on him the first night but everyone is now getting along and playing nice.

I would do a water change 50%. Check your water parameters and do another water change 50%. Before check nitrates on water being used for water change. Also how long do you use the filter before replacing and is there overfeeding?
