Nitrates dropped

Hi all, I noticed that in the last few days the Diatoms in my tank are starting to go away. My Nitrates have always been in the 2-5 ppm range but today they are at zero. Are these two incidents related and should I be concerned about zero nitrates?
Don’t know if this is related as well, I started running a UV sterilizer about two weeks ago.

I tend to like a little bit of ntirate in a system because it can help the system in the long run.. what do you currently have in your tank and how old is it?

It’s been cycled for about 2 months and I currently only have a Yellow Tail Damsel fish and some hermit crabs and snails.
