Nitrates gone crazy

Omg. What a great tank.

You are totally fine. Keep doing what you're doing.
Your going to get some uglies but you're fine.

Pick out some new hardy corals to get. And but some. I'd say zoa coolonies for one, think about future fish. Add real slow. It'll keep your mind off off the test numbers.
Let it settle

Nice find. really.

May I ask what lights is has?

Too answer your light question. I’m running a pair of Globalstar 60x5w at about 60/30 during the daylight cycle.

Def hang out here more for sure. I've Learned a lot.

Look at the stickies and articles at the top of the forums too. Refreshers are good.

The chemistry section alone is easy basic to very advanced.

But also trust your eye.

Maybe post up a build thread. Great place to keep track and ask questions and show off.

Leave some room on the top for the sps. Btw.
Thank you and thank you.

Oh yea. Those are totally mediocre.

You can fix that later. They will get you by. Your settings are prettt spot on depend on how high over the tank that they are.

Might only be too much if they are low and on for a long time.

Since you moved the tank an brought the old substrate it contained all the unwanted polluntants. Like disturbing aspetos or lead paint. Tank looks fine just let it cycle for a few weeks an keep doing water changes don't buy or add inhabitants till get tank where you want it to be

Yeah anytime you move rocks like that and especially sand that doesn't surprise me. Did you reuse the sand or put new in? Kee doing big water changes and it will settle down.

When you say "ro with 1-4". I'm assuming you don't have a DI unit? You might consider piggy backing a DI canister to get that to zero if so.

After reading all the comments and seeing the cloudy tank. Your high nitrates most likely came from your sand bed. You will be fine like someone said i wouldnt add any fish that will add to the nitrates. If you really feel uncomfortable about your nitrates do a 90% water change. I have gone through off the chart nitrates. Talking 200+ ppm and worked through it. You got this!
