So i bought new testing strips today because i felt like my last ones were not accurate. Well I was right. My nitrates are 80ppm.. what do I do to lower this??
nitrates high... help?

I wouldn't trust your testing strips at all... How are your fish and corals doing? If they're happy then you should be too

What do you mean testing strips? I would recommend getting a higher grade test kit. I use Red Sea for my nitrates. Salifert is also good.

Well thats the thing. My gsp, frogspawn, xenia, and stylophora are all good and happy. But my zoas are still closed up since 3 days ago. I dont know if thats because of the nitrates.
Agreed just get a normal kit. Stop with the strips, you'll spend more money troubleshooting them.

You guys are probably right. Because my original test strip shows nitrate at 0 or about 10ppm and my other one its 80ppm. So im gonna buy the good stuff today.

I would recommend using Bulk Reef Supply for most all your reefing needs. Just my 2 cents.

The Nyos nitrate test kit is a two step kit. Add 5 drops. Shake for 10 seconds. Add a scoop of powder. Shake for a minute. Done! Read after 5 minutes. And hands down the easiest to read. And pretty dang accurate also. It is by far my favorite colorimetric kit. BRS did a video on test kit accuracy a while back. The NYOS got their top vote for nitrate. I am patiently waiting for the Hanna LR nitrate checker to become available.
