Hello everyone. How long does nitrifying bacteria live without an ammonia source in a saltwater tank?

They go dormant. They don’t die.

A very long time but I'm sure exactly how long. I keep my qt tank going with a few drops of Dr Tims ammonium chloride every couple of weeks. Cost a few bucks and I've had the same bottle for years.
