Nitrite and Nitrate

And vibrant claimed to be bacteria too.
I know two people personally who say they used less than the recommended dosage and the tanks got cloudy and they lost lots of livestock. I'm not a fan of adding things to the tank that claim to be a shortcut to quick success.

The nitrogen cycle is not complete until ammonia, then nitrites, read zero. Since both are toxic to fish, just be patient. Even then, you can't start dumping corals in the tank, which shouldn't happen before the 4 month point.
False. Once ammo reads 0 and the tank can process new ammo within 24 hours, you are cycled. You can still have nitrites. You can definitely add coral sooner than 4 months! (And some recommend adding easy coral before adding fish since coral consumes nitrates, etc)

Sorry, but experienced people know better. The next thing could be diatoms, cyano, etc. The ugly tank phase is coming up.

I am quite experienced, thanks. I did say EASY coral... And it's not something everyone should do, but it is definitely an option.

@crit21 In fact, as experienced people know, since coral uses ammonia as food, you can even put coral in BEFORE a tank is cycled. Wild stuff, huh? ;)

Yes, experienced people know ammonia is not toxic to corals. I'm sure you dose ammonia in your tank first thing in the morning as soon as you get out of bed?

you may be saying that in jest, but some advanced reefers do prefer to dose ammonia as a source of N. There are threads in the chem forum on how to do it.

HAHA, yes. I take multivitamins, so along with the ammonia, they'll also get their daily dose of water soluble vitamins.

I haven’t seen @brandon429 lay the facts down in a while. Maybe I’ve been sleeping.
Brandon advised me in 3 weeks my tank had cycled after posting annoying pic of tests daily ;)
I'm now at 5 months with a fully stocked tank. Go Brandon ;)
