Hi I'm in week 7 and my nitrites are stuck at 4ppm they refuse to budge. I dosed ammonia from dr Tim's and it drops to 0 in 2 or 3 days. SMH. There is no livestock in the system.
Started with reef mature then dosed dr tims.

That was longest part of my cycle. Ammonia was processed quickly. The BB needed to process nitrite to nitrate took much longer.

Don't think you still need to dose ammonia which will create more nitrite at this point. When mine stalled I did a large water change and added a bottle of bio spira. That helped get the process moving

When I tested my water I use 50%tank water and 50% fresh saltwater and the nitrite is still very high. So I dont think a water change would help

I didn't but also found out at that time that nitrite really is not harmful to marine fish

I did a 50% wc and added a bottle of bio spira. Few days after nitrite was coming down
Thanks. I think I'm going 2 add a fish today. The nitrite is 2ppm and every time I add ammonia it goes from 2ppm to 0 overnight.
What do u think?

So did you end up stocking your tank with the nitrite so high?
Use a couple of dead prawns, or fish into your tank (smaller size fish more days Large fish less days) for a 3-6 days to cycle your filtration system quicker.....(remove the carcass) nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia will be equal in six to 8 weeks....and let let your filtration system gain the beneficial bacteria it needs and your grand hotel of fish begins

I used dr Tim's and when I add ammonia to my tank it goes from 2ppm to 0 overnight. I definitely have enough beneficial bacteria. Now I just have 2 wait for the nitrite to go down.

I cycled with MB7 and dry rock. Ammonia dropping was very fast within first couple week was able to process 2ppm to 0 in 24 hours or less. Nitrite took weeks. All in I cycled for about 2.5 months

Have you stocked any CUC yet?

What's CUC?

Just realised clean up crew. No I did not they r in qt. But I have sea urchins and sea stars that I can put it . Since they dont need qt. Just wash off with tank water

Hi, I have similar situation. Day 36, ammonia goes to 0 in 24 hours, nitrite is off my test kit chart, above 1ppm.

My question is: do I need to keep dosing ammonia? I have CUC (snails only) in tank. No other live stock.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, what ended up working for me is to add 2 bottles of bio spira and within 24hrs everything stabilised. Try it let me know
