Is it normal to get a spot of brown precipitate in a Nitrite test? I’m also at week 3 still getting Nitrites? I guess I’m not cycled?

we no longer have to use nitrite in cycling or in reefing. People on the web make up a lot of things, but that’s a lot of cycled tanks logged, specifically by excluding nitrite factoring.

post pics of your reef, three weeks after using boosters like bottle bac and feed means you’re cycled and the tank can prove it using ammonia only verification, if required. Ammonia verification = take pic of recent ammonia level, then next pic is after dosing liquid cycling ammonia making second test pic only slightly darker than first pic, then third pic is in 24 hours. It will match pic #1

Thanks Brandon, I was mostly curious about the precipitate. So I did a lot of reading in the threads you provided and I think I’m in good shape. I scaled the tank with CarabSea life rock and sand. At week 3 NH4=0 and has been 0 since day 2 after Fritz turbo start with 2 clowns for bio load. Week 2 added 3 Chromis and week 3 added 2 fangs, angel, and wrasse. NO2 stay at .2ish and and NO3 at 2. Everything is perfect. Fish are great and healthy and have managed to avoid algae bloom.
