40 gallon cube, cycled with Dr Tim’s and ammonium chloride. After approx a month and a half levels came to zero. Added two of my clowns last week and noticed that the nitrites went from zero to .2 (RedSea test kit)
Question:Any cause for concern? Should I boost with another dose of Dr Tim’s?
Thx

If you already have it in hand, sure.

.2 could easily be the margin of error.

Keep an eye on them and if they continue to rise do a 50% water change to drop them in half... What you are seeing with Nitrates is a common cycle...Have you done any water changes yet??? Dave

Prior to adding my clowns I did a 50% water change. Any thoughts on adding another dose of Dr Tim’s?

Nitrates at 5 with the RedSea test kit

Adding bacteria would be fine and may help... I waited till my Nitrates hit 10... did a 50% water change then 4 days later did another 50% water change... That took care of the Nitrates to a place where the bacteria took over and stabilized my tank....I never tried adding more seed bacteria... This is what seems to work for me... Dave

My main concern was with the slight rise in Nitrites...

It’s nitrites he has a reading on that he is questioning. Not nitrates. The bio load is so low that it is most likely margin of erryin testing.
