Nitrites new aquarium...

Seefu that makes out point very well. Per this chart below it’s impossible to have free nitrites for 60 days, so we know your tester is off as linked in that thread above, this is common. Your nitrites are zero, but indicating still there if you used Prime at any step then it causes nitrite misreads. High nitrates can also misread as nitrite, it’s a mess trying to factor anything beyond ammonia in tank cycling.

Did you use live sand? I did with dry rock and it caused a slow cycle. My trites took 9 days to come down from off the chart levels after ammonia zeroed out.

I dosed back up to 1 ppm 3 days ago and it seems itll be about 4 days to zero put the ammonia and trites. Still a lil slow....

I was at Reefapalooza today and happen to speak to Dr Tim. He was very helpful and explained a few things to me that may have led to the slow cycle, one being my live sand. He gave me a bottle on the spot to boost things along and finish the cycle.

Cheers to Dr Tim for being a cool guy!

If ammonia is 0 I wouldn't worry about nitrites.
They are not harmful even if they were in hundreds of ppm. 300ppm plus will kill maybe 1/4th of a population of clownfish.
Generally nitrites take 2 to 3 times longer than ammonia to hit 0.
