What is the best way to strip Nitrofurazone from the water?

I am having a nitrite spike in my qt was going to dose a bottle of bio spira but since the Nitrofurazone is in the water would it be ineffective? I would have to take the Nitrofurazone out of the water bring down the nitrites and then redose with the nitro correct?

Thanks

Nitrofurazone on its own shouldn’t affect the bio filter. Are you using a mix with methylene blue? If so then it will impact the bio filter. If using furan 2 or nitrofurazone alone you can safely dose biospira. Another option is to dose prime or another detoxifier. Carbon and water changes will remove antibiotics.

nitrites aren’t a concern in saltwater. What is your ammonia at?

Hi there! I am also running copper power along with the nitrofurazone. Ammonia is at 0, I guess I’ll go ahead and dose some bio spira to hopefully bring those levels down.... any other thought are very much appreciated

The presence of nitrates is indicating your tank is cycling. While nitrites aren’t a concern I would watch for ammonia spikes. Antibiotics + copper can cause bacterial blooms and deplete O2 so increase flow etc.

What form of nitrofurazone are you dosing? Furan 2?

No just straight nitrofurazone powder at 3.8 grams per 100 gallons

If you don’t have ammonia I’m guessing testing error on nitrites

My qt system has been up for like 4 months now.... seems like it’s never done cycling...

No testing error.... I tested it against freshly mixed saltwater pre dosed with copper and nitrofurazone and the test came back at 0
