Nitrogen Question

please ask them how to mount as well because i only use them attached to my t5 fixture. The only way I could figure to mount for a tank would be in a canopy, attached to wall with home depot bracket or ceiling beam, or hand made aluminum and plastic legs

I kind of want some type of mounting arm hmmm

Exactly why I asked. I would write to orphek because they might be have a solution. If not I will try to help you find some other solutions. 2 ai primes can work on the tank as well and definitely have tank mounting options as well as kessils but I would certainly search up par levels. Ai prime and kessil a160 can be tuned down to lower par as well

I saw some AI primes in the market place but I would need 2?

its a 30 inch tank right? if it is yes either 2 or maybe 1 ai prime and 1 orphek to deal with shading but i havent seen the 2 used together. Orphek and kessil look great together though

Yes 1 can work but there will be shading on the sides where the light may not completely reach

You could do 1 and add a 2nd if you wanted later. The 29 gallon tank is 30" and most people like 24"x24" but it should be fine like 10" off the water. Ive seen people do 1 AI pri
Dang two is starting to add up...I thought I was good with one but I could get one then maybe later or maybe just not put anything on the edge maybe or something very low light

I think one would work. If you like reefing you can get another or sell it and upgrade to a AI hydra 32 or something a little larger

Yeah the corals are actually what attracted me more than the fish lol
Lol metoo but it takes awhile for the tank to mature. So as it matures maybe your budget will too! Lol the corals are definitely the cool part. A lot of people here will tell you that. The fish are extra bonuses.

Yeah I'm taking it slow for sure....I need to make a savings just for this lol

A fishless cycle is the best way to go. I added a couple damsels to my very 1st tank years ago and it was a mistake. I didn’t lose one but the stress I put on them and the stress I felt trying not to lose them and fighting ammonia sucked.

Now that I have learned and progressed Dr. Tim’s most certainly works. However, I don’t know the relationship you have with your LFS but if you know them and they know you they would probably be cool with it. When I set up a new tank now I ask them for a couple cups of substrate out of one of their tanks. Its my favorite way to get the ball rolling and seeding it with bacteria.

Lol crimson just being honest because I dont think the tank mount goes that high up but I may be wrong. I definitely think it will work it will just be really low light corals like mushrooms on the sides. You can def buy one and save up for another later.

Unfortunately there is only one LFS that actually sells saltwater fish and things besides petco(definitely don't want anything from there) but they don't seem to ever be open since all this covid stuff

Yeah I dont remember the heights of the 2 mounts the sell. I was trying to math out par in my head lol

You may want to ask people in nearby cities selling if they can meet at a place between your town and theirs. Sorry that situation isnt great. I live 30 minutes away from like 10 different stores, not including petcos (plural), Long island is great for reefing ...

Well thats nice! There's 2 LFS in my city and 1 is questionable. I'm sure they're great I haven't really given them a chance they have dirty tanks when I go by there. The other however is nice clean but both are 30mins from my house. If I need something dry good I can be at a petco in 6mins. I live in Alabama most people here eat fish not keep fish and the coral selection isn't great. You can probably get better stuff from your local reefer here than at a store. But at least the LFS has good fish and they quarantine and are clean.
