About 5 weeks ago I got an order in from Jason Fox, including a decent sized frag of his Bling Bling Cyphastrea. I had it on the bottom of my tank for the first 2 weeks, then moved it up so it is about 2/3 of the way down the water column, and it still pretty much looks dead.

Literally everything else in my reef is happy and healthy, params as follows:

Nitrate 1.0
Phos .05
Cal 450
Alk 7.8
Mag 1450Sg 1.026
Temp 79

The cyphastrea has looked nearly dead since I put it in the tank. Oddly, I cut the stem off the frag plug so I could glue it to one of my rocks, and tossed the stem into the observation tank in my sons room. What little coral was on the stem is now completely encrusted!

Any and all help is appreciated.

It's quite common for a coral to go dorma t for a time after being moved from one system to another. Different water parameters from system to system etc.
Hang in there, once the coral becaomes acclimated, things should start to move in a positive direction

How's the color of the color in your sons tank? Is it the same as the one in the main tank but is just growing? If the tissue is not receding or any other damage I would give it a little more time. If it still does not seem to grow, I would move it to the sons tank.
