Setting up my reef where it all started 25 years ago. Just moved back to the San Diego area where I set up my first reef. I will be upgrading in the next year or two, but for now my reef will be a 20 gallon nuvo black. I drilled a return and put on a ghost overflow. Sump is a 12" cube with external eheim return pump.

Lighting: 4 x T5 retrofit with (12) 3 watt cree royal blues
Skimmer: Octo 110 SSS
Flow: 2 x Vortec MP 10
Fish: Clown Pair, Bangaii Cardinal, Sixline wrasse
RKE controller

Tank has been setup for about 4 weeks now. So hard to be patient while I wait for it to be ready for SPS

Looks like ur doing the right things while being patient in order to be sucessful when it is time.

Is everything four weeks old?

I recomend ordering from Adam at battle corals or @aquavista99 to get a good sps starter pack.

Yes, I cycled the rocks and separately so I could use the dt as a qt. Used CP and Marcyn II. Added rocks and sand last week after 100% water change. Currently on 3rd day of prazipro as I lost a gramma to flukes. The is still a nitrite in the system but ammonia is zero now... Been using prime to and stability.

battle corals has some really nice stuff. Saw the owners build tread on his upgraded systems. Looks sweet!

I'm going to start with a couple tester sps locally and when I get them to hold good color and growth I will probably fully stock it all at once

Just got back from Aqua SD with my first frag. here it is under T5 2 coral plus bulbs.

It will probably be my only non acro SPS. I cant wait to see it under royal blue LED. Ill take another picture once my dusk lighting comes on
