Has anyone ever come across this before? I recently picked up this wellso (or T. Radiata if you prefer:) ) and I have been noticing it has pretty much 0 feeding tents. They are just the tiniest little nubs! When I feed the tank it acts like it wants to grab food, but can't. Any ideas?

Sorry the glass is dirty in that corner so pics aren't the clearest. I have had this coral for a few weeks now and this is as extended as those little nubs get.

Have you looked in the tank after lights out? I have a feeling it might open its mouth and expose all its feeders then- pretty much turn inside out, like a scolly does. I found a photo on google on what it will look like

Oh yes the lights are off when I get home from work most days, so I am always looking in there after lights out, often with my little UV flashlight;) he hasnt made a show at night either. I have a little scoly about a foot away and a lobo about 2 feet away and they often have their feeders out during the day. In fact the lobo has his out more often then not. My tank is LPS dominant so when I feed there are usually feeder tentacles out all over, but not this guy!

How long have you had it? Any chance they are getting to much light and can't adjust?

Since October 22nd. I really doubt it's receiving too much light. It is on the sand bed in the corner, and my leds are set to ramp up to 30 whites and 40 blues max, all the other corals on my sand bed have no issues. It seems happy with the exception of having no feeders lol.

Polyp booster from Polyp lab works like crazy !

This is a food right? I don't think the problem is him not wanting to eat, I think it is the inability from stunted tentacles or something along those lines. Even when I have had acans waste away the flesh was what shriveled away first, the tentacles were still just as long until the end. This seems to be the opposite. Not that I feel like he is wasting away, I am just curious as to why the tentacles could be like this.

Just keep an eye on it. If it looks happy and doesn't deteriorate then I wouldn't worry to much, if it goes backwards then we need to do something. Sometimes lps just do weird things

Oh believe me, watched it will be lol. I am not terribly worried at this point, more so curious as to why this may be, I've never seen these stubby little tents before. Naturally it would be on the one coral I've been looking for for a long time lol. If I wasn't so worried about how they ship I would have had one years ago lol.

Lol! My Lfs has one in their display, never seen its tenticles either. One thing you could try is spot feed it using a plastic bottle. Basically you cut the bottom of the bottle out, place it over the coral and feed it. That way nothing can steal the food and it gives the coral time to open its feeders.

Something like this.

It's not a food just a pre-food additive. It will make it extend it's feeding tentacles like crazy and you could better access the situation .
