Is this diatoms or cyano? Or could it be totally something else?
Sorry for the crappy phone pics
It only gets on my sand and glass. Never on the rocks from what I can see

Tank is 8 months old
PH: 8.1
Nitrate: 0.75
KH: 8
Alkalinity: 2.85
Calcium: 450
Phosphate: 0.02
Magnesium: 1400

cleaning never hurts imo.
how diverse is the cuc snails?

Lol just restocked them on Friday.
Nope I don't dose anything to the tank.
How can I tell if it's cyano?
H2o2?
yup.
me im jaded. i just let it ride and slow the feedings esp small dusty food and clean a bit. look for detritus in the simp and fuge etc. ususally goes away.
nobody likes to belive it, but there is a big difference in a 6 8 9 10 month old tank and a 2 year old tank. the first year is weird. it like a puppy.
so cyano is pee pee on the floor. it stops if you train it right.:)

Don't think I can slow the feedings down anymore. I feed only every 2 days and only what the fish eat
I guess I'll try out the h2o2 when it comes back. I siphoned a layer of sand to get rid of it.
Yeah I get you on the tank maturity part. The older the better.
I just don't know how to "train it right" if all parameters are decent and don't over feed.
I use reef frenzy

then dont sweat it.
feed the fish healthy above all. and keep the tank clean.
try some bacteria from time to time.

No3 is a tad high;)
stupid thing is, my zoas look best right when the cyano pops:mad:

Your on the right track Daniel. Maybe look at some other foods too. Nobody likes PBJ EVERY night

I'll add some mb7 to see if that helps a bit.
Thanks Salty, I'll look into some other foods as well. Have any suggestions?
