sorry for the rubbish photo but I've noticed today what looks like a clear ball of something. It sways around a bit in the flow and i thought it could be fish eggs but after a Google search I doubt thats what it is.
Anyone have any ideas?

Its hard to say from this picture but it could be a tunicate or a sponge if it is stationary. Has it move at all or is it staying in place?

Yeah couldn't get a clearer picture of it. I've only just noticed it today but hasn't moved since. Are either of those bad?
If it is a sponge or a tunicate then no these are not bad and are a good sign that the tank environment is ideal for these animals to reproduce and spread through the system. I would observe for a week or two and ensure that this critter is staying in place. If it moves then better pictures will be needed for identification. Do you have any live rock in this system or is it dead rock?

I started out with dry rock 6 months ago so I'm guessing it'' pretty live now. Looks white in the photos due to a change I'm aquascape so its where the rock hasn't had any light so look new.
I'll keep an eye on it and try get better pictures if it moves. Thanks

pineapple sponge most likely.. especially if this rock was moved from a lower light/cryptic area into the light.

they are filter feeders... for lack of a better way to say it they polish the water. you will find them in dark sumps overflows etc..

Rule #2112xyz of reefing, when in doubt, get it out;) @KJ is correct
