No More Filter Socks A Must See

Cool idea. It looks like if you cut the filter pad a little shorter, so that there's a gap at the front of the sump, then you'd have a failsafe in case you forgot to change the pad and it became totally clogged, since the water would still have a way to get through.

If you had this on a reefer, it would just flow over into the sump. I like it.

The sump had cut outs of it get clogged it will flow over into the shimmer chamber.

I've used this method for a long time.
Presently i use a layer of filter floss on top of some finer filter material; vacuum cleaner filter material. It's about 3mm thick ; comes in sheets. Just cut out the size you need.
I hose out the gunk & re-use the material several times... easy.

I like this idea I hate dealing with filter socks
I have trigger sump good thing it already has the
Baffle to do that
I was just wondering if it actually works
I guess this is my confirmation
Thank you

Highly INEFFICIENT.... those blue bonded filter pads are gonna pass alot of dirt right through them...Filter socks are better in every way...This guys should just go down in micron size on the socks. They'll last longer between changes and still trap WAY more dirt than those filter pads..I came up in this hobby in the 70's and changing wads of filter floss and pads is a step BACKWARDS....

I use 50 and 100 micron pad between baffle. Toss it in the washing machine once a week..... I hate disposable stuff. We as Humans need to stop using and tossing things..

Just my Opinion

My DIY sump is set up like that. You can buy all sort of different media. I have two tray levels in mine.
