I thought reef crystals was supposed to be the premium offering of IO. Several people have mentioned that they had bad experiences with RC and that things have improved since switching to IO.

Is IO an apparently better and less expensive salt mix?

It's not necessarily better, it just mixes to parameters that are more in line with what we run in our systems.
