MY LITTLE BABY!!!

this guy has been in my tank for about five months now if not more. It feels like I have had him forever! When I got him he was missing one leg but it was starting to growing back. This afternoon after work this is what I come home to! What could’ve done this!?[emoji31][emoji43]
He is still wiggling around... but is he super sad or hurt??

Power head or a rougue fish?

Must be a fish-
This starfish has not EVER climbed off the sand level...
I can’t think of what fish woke up THAT crabby...
And I don’t have any crabs...

Chances are it won't make it. Brittle's when they lose limbs all at once don't survive. Typically it's a water pramameter issue or stress.

Do you have aggressive fish in your system? Could be attacking it.

“A water parameter or stress?” Like he would just detach all his legs at once? I don’t know about that. Possibly? And my fish have not changed in all of these months so there’s no new factor I can think of...

The only thing I have changed is I have begun dosing Vibrant. And Kalkwasser…

Most likely a water parameter issue. Ours dont like nitrates over 100.

Get a full test from your LFS.

You are probably due for a water change.
Bleah, our tank is due for a water change sometimes right after I do a water change...
Been feeding too much lately.

Our black fuzzy brittle star had short arms once.
Get your parameters under control quickly and it may be ok.

Our black fuzzy brittle star has regrown all 5 arms.

Yes and melt.

What fish do you have? Triggers? Aggressive fish?

They can loose limbs from water pramameter changes and very quickly I might add.

SG sudden changes can kill them very quickly. Osmotic shock with any stars can cause permanent damage or death.

Can't speak of vibrant's effects. Kalkwasser can change pH quickly if dosed in large amounts locally.

Ok- water change makes sense...
My mushrooms didn’t look too good for the past 2 days...
Thanks!!

Nope. No aggressive fish-
I agree now with the water change thing-
Going to try that, and FAST!!
Thanks!!!
