An apex, auto-topoff, reactors, and two dosing pumps. Isn't that about as automated as it gets?

Apex only runs my mp's and my dosing pumps. There are setups that are totally ran by there controllers

LIGHTS- 2 EverGrow IT2040's with a sunrise sunset program that gab made . lights start up 7am and fully turn off at 12am. so 15hrs total. peaks for 4-4.5 hours mid day TANK TEMP - KEPT BETWEEN 76.9 - 78.5 degrees daily FOOD INTAKE - 3 times daily home bought and preped food for both fish ND Coral. Also use LRS Fish & Reef frenzy some times . as well as rods seaweed to feed tang , wrasse ND our shrek SEAHARE think im done , OH YEAAAAA TANK IS A 65G reef ready.

Sorry, but I do not agree that there is such a thing as a plug and watch reef or reefer. If you don't get your hands wet once in a while, your reef won't be around long.

Who has a protein skimmer that doesn't clean the cup? Who never cleans their glass? Who doesn't swap out filter media, or doesn't do any of a number of a myriad of required reef related chores? The price of not doing what is needed is the life of your corals and fish, plain and simple.

I am not disagreeing with liking to do maintenance, just disagreeing with your definition. No matter how technology heavy or not your reef is, if you do your own maintenance, you are actively involved in it. And if you don't do maintenance your reef will not be around long.

I would offer another alternative to PAWR, "Pay And Watch Reefer." That is a reefer that has enough money to pay a maintenance service to do most of their maintenance, only feeding the fish or close to it. That is a true hands off reef tank, and anyone in this category isn't a true reefer anyways, IMO. That is really the only way you can have successful irked tank n this hobby. You have to be willing to do regular maintenance or be rich enough to pay someone else go do it.

There are a lot of reefers that there hands never go into the reef and don't clean there glass they use that auto glass cleaner and there's also a lot of reefers that water changes are auto also and I know this for a fact. And I do agree that the only way to have a successful is to get your hands in there.so I'm keeping it plug and watch reefers PAWR LOL

Oh yea.......you know lots of reefers that use automatic glass cleaners? Funny......I belong to the largest membership reef club in the country, and I don't know a single person that uses the RoboSnail. And if you have one of those, you will do maintenance on that. And if you have an automatic water changer, which I do, you are doing maintenance on that, making RODI, mixing new water and getting proper SG, replacing tube sets, refilling the saltwater reservoir, reef maintenance all the same.

Call it what you want, but no successful reef is hands off for the owner unless you pay someone else to do your chores. An AWC system or a RoboSnail doesn't mean you have anything close to a hands off reef.

It's not all about robosnail was just using that as an example so you don't have to run with that. Plain a simple I'm looking for the reefers that still have to watch there RO water bucket so it don't over flow reefers that still carrying there water change buckets to do water changes gloves and sponge to clean glass the ones that every week take off there skimmer cup for cleaning no fancy dosing containers just reg bottles ATO water is in just a plain container or bottle and so on.

i have hoarded about 200 5g jugs in the garage and base ment lol") U SEEN LOL -_- , i lugg jugs up n down stairs every day lol . i love it tho . there are a select few who dnt do weekly maintaince on there tank or tnks . some go 4 months with out getting there hands in the maybe to clean the cup or somthing i know only 2 ppl there tnks are not the best tho.

Well, you posted about the automatic glass cleaner. I just commented on it.

Plenty of folks have to do what you describe above, but in reality, that doesn't make them any more hands on than someone that has automated a comparable task, because you have to do maintenance to your tank, or do maintenance to the equipment you set up to automate a particular task. It is all reef related work, no matter how you cut it or classify it or name it.
