Thank you! I did have quite a few modules connected to this eb832. 5 modules total, plus two dos using the 1link connections, plus the head unit. I just read one of your posts which includes a rant on how the small buck converter can only provide 6W of power to be share amongst all these modules. After reading that post it makes sense that I most likely put way too much demand on it. I'll be careful to distribute the modules across other eb832's going forward.Thanks for tagging me
It's not the circuit breaker because you have green light on the 24v PSU. It's not the 12v meanwell PSU because you hear relays clicking. It's obviously not the 24v PSU because of the green light.
What's left is most likely the 24v to 12v buck converter or the circuitry around it. This happens a lot when too many modules (or a failed module) plugged in to aquabus. I do have a couple of repair videos on this very topic. If you have a voltmeter, simply test the voltage on the input and the output of the 1733 voltage regulator near that diode. At the input you should see 12v-15v, at the output you should see 3.3v. If you don't get either, the buck converter circuit is likely bad.
The distant second cause could be the bad main controller. I do see those periodically but they are few and faaaar between compared to the myriad of other issues with EB832s.
Okay, I'll create an account on fixreef and send it in.wasn't bashing the multimeter at all. It's a blast from the past. I still have my very first soldering iron from radio shack somewhere. It still works, just not good for anything except for 12 guage wires
It's probably the converter, it may also be the circuitry around it.
If you don't know what you are doing, let me repair it for you instead. I get too many repairs after previous attempts, with traces destroyed, components missing...
I should have recorded a repair I just did after someone attempted to upgrade the 12v PSU with a meanwell unit. Would have gotten a million views on that one
