I need to skim the top of the water In my tank...I do not have a skimmer...Is there a way I can do this with something I might have at home...It looks like their Is a layer of dust on the top...and could be...we have been renovating a room downstairs and the dust was In the air...I forgot to cover the tank...plz don't growl me..as I am very new to this...I just want to clean It...I have 4 crabs and 4 snails In my 26gl tank.....help.

You could do a water change and siphon the top portion of the water column. You need to make sure you have good circulation which will keep water churned up so that filter can do its job. But you need to think about getting a skimmer if you are housing corals.

I would take it your at least using a mechanical filter then, and you can get a surface skimmer attachment. Other than that, you should have your poweheads mixing it up for you.

You always can get a little return pump 80gph (depending on tank size) and get some PVC(Or 20oz bottle) put the PVC near the top so the water will drain into it and have a pump to suck its and recirculate it into the tank
&&& What that guy said ^^^^^^^^^ I thought about posting that but you said something you may have around the house

You might be able to carefully lay a paper towel across top of water then pull back off and discard. Might work and worth a shot ???

Cheers, Todd
