Thinking of using 2 marineland bio wheel filters and taking off the hob skimmer, any thoughts? It's on a 46gal bow front. Just thinking the skimmer not doing much and i already have one bio wheel and think with two should be OK

Depends on how heavily your tank is stocked and the other methods you use for removing organics. I currently do not run a skimmer on my 50g, but I have 50lbs of live sand and 50lbs of live rock in the tank and only 1 fish.

I've got a dual bio wheel on my QT tank. Normally I run it without the filter cartridges. About once a month I put the cartridges in to help polish the water and let the carbon remove whatever may be in the water. I leave them in for about a week then toss them. I've had a max of 6 fish...it's 29g and seems to work fine.
