No socks, no skimmer, anyone???

I am considering removing my filter socks and protien skimmer, and adding another refugium. How many of you out there are running this way? If so can you please give an overview of your system, some pics, and maybe list some corals you have been successfully keeping with this method. Thanks in advance.

I run it like that i do have filter socks but they arent doing anything they have been in yhere for a year super dirty in the past i had no filter socks
