I know this has been a popular topic across the forum but after some searching I've not seen people state what and how they run things to have a successful no water changes tank.
My current tank hasn't had a water change for 18 months or so, however I've always had nitrate at around 50ppm.
Phosphate has always measured pretty low at 0.04ppm but I suspect it's higher due to some algae growth.
In the past to try lower my nitrate I have tried a sulphur reactor that never done anything after a few months. Bio pellets since starting the tank, chaeto and caulerpa since starting the tank too. Most recently I tried vinegar dosing with no results.
My system is around 700 litres and minimally stocked with fish.
Details
Never ran PO4 remover
Bio Pellets in an H2Ocean reactor (finally after a year they're being consumed very slowly)
Reef Octopus Classic 202s
Chaeto and Caulerpa reverse lit with 2 aquaray tiles
500ml of aquaforest zeo stones in a bubble Magus reactor
How do you guys and girls on here successfully run a no water change tank?
Thanks
Jono
