No Yellow on Magnificent Foxface?

I realized (After seeing some magnificent foxfaces in stores), that mine has no yellow on its fins (its transluscent). The red on spine is drabby.. and there's no contrast of white against the grey saddle. Pretty much, mine is drabby.

Did I happen to get a female? are females more toned down than males? or do they color as they get older? I had it for about 8 months now

I can try to take a more recent one in better lighting later- this one is a few weeks old. The red isn't as vibrant as it used to be and no yellow.

No one can have her!! She's one of my favorites!! I put my nose to the glass and she comes right up to my face. When I see her hiding and camouflaged, she comes right out when she sees me. So much spunk!

I wondering if I need to feed more nori- I've sort of been terrible in that department lately.

Or if females and males have different colors? Or if she's still young?

Looks fine to me. A more varied diet and time may be all that is needed.

More nori is always a good idea for herbivores. And maybe soaking her food in vita-chem or selcon.

Mine looks the same way except under blue lights what yellow it does have turns to a beautiful gold color I think ur fine as I feed nori almost everyday if it's fat and healthy enjoy one of the best fish in the hobby (at least that's what I feel)

As far as I know male and female rabbitfish look the same. I'm actually not sure how to tell them apart...

Correct, they're not sexually gimorphic.

Yes! I have 2 Magnificent Foxfaces and they get dull looking when they're not getting fed enough algae. New Life Spectrum, which is one of the best pellet foods, makes a herbivore pellet. But I try to feed my Foxfaces a good bit of algae at LEAST twice a week, at the minimum.

If I put mysis and green algae strips they will completely ignore the mysis and go straight to the algae. They don't even wait for me to slide the clip all the way down. I want to try the pellets, but I have carnivores that are used to the regular pellets and if I drop in herbivore pellets they may think that the pellets are no good anymore. Not to mention, my Blue Throat Trigger, Blue Spotted Puffer, and Melanarus Wrasse also go after the algae and the Trigger just shreds it everywhere, making a huge mess.

New Life Spectrum is the only brand I use- pellet wise (unless I get freebies). I'll look into the herbivore and maybe I can mix with the regular pellets. Almost all my fish eats the nori.

I picked up dried nori from the asian market. so much cheaper there (not seasoned or roasted, plain dried).. all my fish attacked it in a frenzy. they like it better than the fish store Sally brand.

Nearly a month update.

I got New Life pellets, the herbivore. None of my fish seem to like it much, even the tang or foxface.
I upped the nori to every other day (Sometimes every day if I remember).

Foxface's yellow is slowly returning. she has a bright yellow spot on her tail and her fins are showing tinge of yellow. I guess all I needed to do was up the nori more
