No2 & No3 help

Hey all,

Sorry to sound so dumb I'm looking for some help ive set up a new marine tank 400ltr with a hang on protein skimmer etc 2 sets of Fluval LED 59w lights on a wifi timer etc.
however how do you keep the N02 & no3 down.
Also how do i know if i have set up the skimmer correctly it bubbles but there white/clear not brown.

NO2, or nitrites, will be processed by bacteria and converted to NO3, or nitrate. The nitrate can be removed in many different methods but my favorite is growing macro algae in a sump.

New skimmers in a clean tank will make white bubbles until you have waste products to stick to the bubbles. Once the waste starts building up on the surface of the bubbles it will get more and more brown and lovely smelling. :rolleyes:
