No3 and po4 dosing for dino..

I have dino in my tank. I need to to bring my no3 and po4 up to eliminate it, but i have no clue how to do it or what to use.

I have a 35 gallon tank and currently my levels are non existent. Which is what brought on my dinoflagettes.

Advice please?

I know this doesn’t answer you question, but I just got rid of my Dino’s with vibrant. I suggest trying it if all else fails. Before that I stopped water changes for over a month and was dosing bleach. This was my last ditch effort and luckily it worked

Vibrant is a liquid cleaner right? Its my understanding that dino thrives when your water lacks nutrients and nitrates and phosphates are 0.

How long have you been without dinos?

What was your dosing regiment and how long did you end up dosing for, I had good success with it holding back the Dino’s but I think I wasn’t dosing enough or within the proper time span to get rid of them completely.

Took about 2 weeks of dosing 10ml twice a week in my reefer 425xl. I would say it’s been about two weeks without them. From my understanding though it depends what strand of Dino’s you have. Maybe I was just lucky to get the right strand.

How do you know you have dino's BTW? (Not whether you know, but what did you do to validate?) And do you already know which type?

There are some things that very much look like dinos but aren't . My dinos actually started when I used Vibrant to work on an algae issue. The end result was zero nitrate and phosphate that at least coincidentally went with the onset of my dinos.

If you have microscopic pictures of your dinos that would be really helpful to the discussion.

I used Seachem Flourish and this reagent grade sodium nitrate

I used 1 tbsp in 200 cc of RODI and dosed 1-2 cc of the solution per day in my 160 gallon system. I would mix it half that strength and try maybe 1/2 cc and retest. I had to use up to 20 cc of Flourish to raise my phosphate significantly.

Totally agree w/mcarroll, that thread saved my tank as I’ve never been so close to throwing in the towel after 30 years! Tried seemingly everything but raising those two levels from zero was a home run. Took N03 to 10, P04 to .1, maintained those levels and won! I used Seachem’s Flourish and Loudwolf Sodium Nitrate. Def read that thread for more insight and best of luck!

Did a 3 day complete blackout. Running low lights for a few days and increased no3 and no sign of dino yet. Going to slowly increase lighting over the next few weeks.
