Which do you guys perfer:

BWA Neo Phos/Nitrate
ATI Nutrition N/P
MEcoral N & P
ReefMoonshiners N/P

There is no reason to get this off topic, just answer which is your favorite or which one you have tried and works best for you and why.

DIY NOPOX recipe. 2ml per day per 10 gallons. Currently just upped to 10ml per day on my 125g as I am taking it slow.

I only dose nitrates with a DIY solution of Sodium Nitrate.

NoPox is a carbon source used to lower nitrates and phosphates, op is trying to do the exact opposite.

I've used neophos but honestly it shouldn't matter too much. I prefer amino acids rather than nitrate dosing. I'd probably do a diy next time for phosphate so I know the purity.

+1 BWA Neophos / Nitrate

I have been using BWA but with the NeoPhos, even dosing 7.5ml (10g system) a day I get 0ppm Phosphates. So it got me thinking, maybe another brand may be stronger ? Hence why I am asking peoples preferences.

Out of curiosity, is it a new tank?

Yes,roughly 7 months old. Cycled with dry rock and seasoned live rock from a mature system. Nutrients bottomed out, dino's set in. Started dosing more, got NO3 to 2-4 but it literally won't budge past that.

I am starting to bubbles popping back up and almost out of NeoPhos/Nitro. I have been feeding half of a broken block of frozen brine shrimp and dried copepod/rotifer powder daily and aboit 2ml of live phyto.

I am thinking maybe my dry rock is possibly absorbing what PO4 I add and hasn't reached its saturation doing and started releasing any back.

I use trisodium phosphate and sodium nitrate. All are available on Amazon with DIY instructions here on R2R. Much cheaper and provided you do not exceed the saturation point you can have it tailored it to your needs.

Food grade sodium nitrate and phosphate has a better purity guarantee than at least some of those, and is cheaper.

The Brightwell products at least are rather dilute and a DIY can be made stronger if you like.

Some of these products contain unknown contents which does not seem optimal to me.

The issue is likely that your rock and sand are binding the phosphate. Aragonite binds PO4 pretty aggressively. As soon as you add PO4 to the water, your sand and rock begin adsorbing it until it reaches equilibrium. You're likely going to have to add a significant amount of PO4 before the surface of the rock becomes saturated to the point where some PO4 remains in your water.

You can simply keep adding Neophos until the PO4 is detectable, but it's going to take a lot of solution. Because of your situation, I would recommend DIY. For the price of a 500 mL bottle, you can buy enough trisodium phosphate to make dozens of gallons.

Test 1 hour after the dose and see what measurement you get. Are you using the Hanna ULR PO4 tester?

I’ve been using Neophos as well. Thinking of doing the DIY though. My tanks seem to love the stuff and I keep running out.

DIY Calcium Nitrate
ESV Nitrate
DIY Trisodium Phosphate or Sodium Phosphate Dibasic
