Hello all.
I’ve just started dosing with No-Pox this week and I’ve read somewhere that it strips the tank of nutrients. My nitrates are around 50ppm and as a last resort I’ve decided to put my faith in Red Sea No-Pox. I don’t like to usually put chemicals into my tank but I’ve exhausted all avenues. So I’d like some advice on how to keep my nutrients going while dosing No-Pox. Can someone help and I be very grateful.
Many, many thanks.
Peter.

Nopox will reduce your nitrates and to a lesser extent phosphates, which are nutrients so you want to reduce them

A good target would be 5-10ppm Nitrate and around 0.03ppm phosphate

So when your nitrates drop, start to reduce the Nopox dosage in line as you don’t want to get near zero nitrate or you may encounter other issues.

Nopox is carbon dosing which you can also research

My phosphate is around 0.02ppm its just the nitrate which is around 50ppm. Just done my weekly water change with nsw for the first time as i live at the coast and have decided to try natural seawater

To add to what @SPR1968 said, you also want to know what your PO4 is before starting NoPoX. Without measurable PO4, NoPoX won't work. You should also skim wet initially while using this product.

Yes- its meant to reduce nitrate and phos to an extent. I use it daily but a few drops- not a dose
